Here's a video interview that Hot 97's Miss Info conducted with Raekwon of Wu-Tang last week. I guess the Chef and Ghost reached out to her so they could sound off about some inner beef going down within the Clan during the making of the new album, specifically with executive producer and unofficial leader RZA. In this video Raekwon wasn't shy about dishing the dirt about the creative differences and financial issues going on behind the scenes. As a long-time Wu fan, it's really unfortunate to hear about all this shit goin on. I mean, these guys are all grown men who've been together as a group for well over a decade, and obviously when you have eight different egos in the same room, you're going to have some issues. But I find it real fucked up that after all these years, all of a sudden they feel the need to start airing each other out on YouTube videos. Obviously we don't know the whole story, but real talk...this is some real childish shit on Rae's part.
I mean no one can deny that RZA is one of the most gifted producers of all time and has been the driving force behind all the classic material put out by Wu-Tang. Simply put, without RZA's creative force there is no Wu...and I think the material that Raekwon has put out without RZA's production or input can testify to that. But on the other hand, If Rae & the majority of the Wu feel that RZA is trying to go in a direction that they aren't comfortable with, he really should take the constructive criticism and respect their opinions. After waiting this long for a new album from the group, the last thing any of the fans want to hear is a forced album that sounds out of place with the rest of their catalog and appears like more of a RZA solo album than a Wu-Tang album. Oh well...I guess we're going to have to wait to hear the album and find out what RZA has to say before we get to the bottom of the situation.
