It's about time. It looks like the rumored return of Marshall Mathers is finally upon us. Of course the question on everyone's mind has been whether or not dude can recapture that same spark that propelled him to the top of the game, earning him a spot amongst some of the great lyricists of all-time. Although many of his die-hard fans have still kept the faith, most have realized for quite awhile that Eminem had become lazy, content, and was a virtual shell of his former self. Now as a big fan of Em's early work, it was a hard pill to swallow seeing the guy who was one of the most polished emcees of our time begin relying simply on his flow & style to compensate for his sudden lack of interest in lyrics & creativity.
So here we are a few years, a few tragedies, and a few personal problems later and oddly enough, Eminem is now back in a similar position he was in prior to his debut album...he needs to prove himself. Of course he still has millions of dollars & fans, but there's now this shadow of a doubt cast over his name and questions whether or not he can recapture his past success after being away from the spotlight for so long. Let's hope that his recent string of hardships (Proof's death, divorce, addiction to sleeping pills, depression/weight gain etc.) have given dude plenty of inspiration to get serious and step up his pen game for this new album.
Now although the rumors surrounding a new album have been circulating over the past few months, we have still yet to hear any official confirmation...until now. Seemingly out of nowhere, Eminem has dropped a brand new freestyle over at Shade 45 that in just over 2 minutes has managed to confirm everything many people were hoping for...He's back.
