Times are good for Joell Ortiz right now. Although many were devastated to hear about the Brooklyn emcee parting ways with Dr. Dre's Aftermath label earlier this year, it's pretty safe to say that it hasn't slowed down Ortiz. Dude has continued the non-stop independent grind that got everyone's attention in the first place. And now that he's experienced and escaped the shady, bullshit, backroom politics that virtually every rapper who's ever signed to a major have dealt with, Joell is in a great, if not better position than he was when first penning the deal with Interscope. In fact, he's currently recording and preparing to drop his latest street album "The Free Agent" later this fall. The project is slated to feature some other like-minded & independent "free agents" including Joe Budden, Bun B, Papoose, + Fat Joe.
Of course you don't have to wait til Fall to hear some new joints from Mr. Ortiz, just check out four new tracks below...including 2 new freestyles, another tribute track, this time it's dedicated to the legendary production of one DJ Premier, and finally...the ill new street single "Good Times" that also has a nice little video that you can peep as well.
