As promised...here's the latest installment of Ego Trip's Top Singles...The 1997 Edition! As y'all have noticed, things have been slow over the past several days mostly due to my increasingly hectic work schedule and more imporantly, the severe lack of new music leaking on the 'net. So as the other blogs of the internets decide to just throw up whatever trash they can get their hands on just for the sake of updating...I refuse to dumb down the quality of the content here at the DU and choose to deliver only the finest posts that you've come to expect here.

I know this is usually the place where I'd write some long-winded review of the year...but I'm fuckin' exhausted and have far too much more shit to do tonight, so I'm sorry it's not as thorough as usual, deal with it. So uhhhh...There was a lot of dope music in '97...and uhhh....Biggie Smalls was killed on March 9th, and then Bad Boy reacted to his death by continuing to straight dominate the charts for the entire year. Oh and one of the most important tracks of all-time was released...Da Dip by Freak Nasty. Straight CLASSIC material right there children...Oh and we can't forget two of the best double albums ever: Life After Death + Wu-Tang Forever and of course the soundtrack of the summer: Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz with Deja Vu...Uptown baby...we gets down baby...for the crown baby.
