OK, before I get back to bidness...here's a bunch of recent compilation albums that dropped the past few days. First up is "Organamix" from the legendary Roots crew. The LP is a collection of rare + remixed tracks from The Roots' illustrious career. It's a nice collection of gems that's a must cop for any Roots fan. Next we got "Focus" from the one and only Talib Kweli. Like the Roots joint, this is a collection of b-sides, collaborations, + rare joints from Kweli's catalog. There's a bunch of quality tracks on here, and although some aren't too rare, it's nice to have 'em all in CDQ without DJs. Finally, we got "Caltroit" from producer Black Milk. This is another talented cat from Detroit that is making major moves. After starting off his career with Slum Village, Milk has been producing bangers for Pharoahe Monch, Elzhi, Lloyd Banks, and Canibus amongst others. His solo album "Popular Demand" was released earlier this year which showcased both his beats + rhymes that was met with critical acclaim. "Caltroit" is a collaboration between himself and California newcomer Bishop Lamont. The album features collabos between artists from both Detroit & California including: Stat Quo, Elzhi, Ras Kass, Royce Da 5'9, Busta Rhymes, Guilty Simpson, Glasses Malone, Planet Asia, Ya Boy, T3, Kardinal Offishall and more. I've heard quite a few tracks from it already, and it's definitely worth the D/L.
