Here's a round-up of the latest news around the hip-hop world...
-> RAPPER "ROCK" CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER
It was confirmed yesterday by Duck Down records that Rock, one half of the 90's group Heltah Skeltah was arrested for a variety of charges including attempted murder. Although he hasn't released much material in the past few years, Rock was currently back in the studio recording some new material with his longtime partner Ruck (aka Sean Price) for a rumored Heltah Skeltah comeback album. Earlier this morning his lawyer released this official statement:
“Jamal Bush a.k.a Rock from Helter Skelter was formally arraigned on attempted murder in the second degree and related charges. The Brooklyn District attorney’s office allege that Mr. Bush shot a known pimp and bloods gang member in the neck paralyzing him. They also allege that Mr. Bush is a pimp and this was a dispute over an alleged lady of the night. Mr. Bush categorically and unequivocally deny all charges. We eagerly look forward to trial and proving his innocence.”
He is scheduled to appear in court on January 18th, and I'll bring you an update as soon as it's available.

-> JOE BUDDEN DENIES SIGNING SHADY RECORDS
Despite some heavy rumors being spread across ever corner of the internet over the past week or so, Joe Budden sat down for an interview with both MTV & Sixshot.com this week and shot down all rumors that he had already signed, or was close to being signed to Shady Records. When asked about the speculation Budden stated: "Yeah, it's exactly that...a rumor". He was then asked if anyone from the label tried to contact him, Budden replied: “I’m not going to say that, but far as me being in heavy talks with them...no. As far as us being close to closing a deal...no”. So although he didn't completely deny the possibility, it sounds like for now that he's staying put for now and exploring all his options before signing with a major label. Budden recently signed a distribution deal with Amalgam Digital who will release "Mood Muzik 3.5" in retail outlets worldwide on February 28th which will feature bonus cuts, no DJ, and an official music video for "Star Inside Of Me".
Yeah yeah...cry me a river Foxy! She's been given dozens of second chances and deserves every second of jail time she's received. I guarantee you there's plenty of other New York doctors more than qualified to adjust her hearing aid. Suck it up bitch!!! Oh and in other news, her "comeback album" was just pushed back...again. "Brooklyn's Don Diva" is now scheduled drop sometime in Nevuary 2060.
Earlier this week, critics got a sneak preview of two of the year's most anticipated albums from legendary female acts when Def Jam hosted an exclusive listening session for Janet Jackson's "Discipline" and Mariah Carey's "That Chick". Although both albums are not completely finished or mastered, listeners got a good idea of the sound and direction of each project and got a first listen of some future smash hit singles from both artists. Fortunately, U.K. website "Discopop" wrote a detailed review of the entire session and shed some light on what we can expect from both projects when they drop this Spring.
