Damn...it's been a crazy slow start to '08, I've been scraping the bottom of the barrel as far as new music goes. Hopefully next month things will start picking up. For now though I've got some solid joints to check out from the underrated emcee's J-Live & Sha Stimuli and some great grown and sexy R&B Raheem Devaughn. Although J-Live & Devaughn are pretty well known, some of you may not be familiar with Stimuli, and I think you should be. He's a great artist from Brooklyn NY who got his start at age 14 on the legendary Masta Ace's "Slaughter House LP" and has been steady making music ever since. He's got a small yet loyal following and is poised to finally break out in 2008 by one-upping Crooked I, and releasing one mixtape each month of this year! Sounds crazy...I'm interested to see how it pans out. Anyway, this first one should be a great introduction especially amongst fans of HBO's series "The Wire". The mixtape is inspired by the critically acclaimed show and each track apparently details an aspect of the show. I wouldn't know myself since I just now started Netflixing the whole series because I've been sleeping on it even though people been tellin me for years how good it is. Oh well. Do yourself a favor and check it and the other two quality drops out below.
