A few years ago, it seemed like Saigon had the world in the palm of his hand. After being in and out of jail for most of his life, he created a buzz by mixing street narratives, fierce wordplay, and vivid imagery with a positive spin in his music. His skills were instantly recognized by the hip-hop community and Sai soon released the hard hitting compilation "Warning Shots", landed a recurring role on HBO's hit show Entourage, was co-signed by Jay-Z, Alchemist, 50 Cent, & Nas, released mixtapes with DJ Drama, DJ Whoo Kid, & DJ Kay Slay and made a big enough impact on the game to become the first artist signed to Just Blaze's "Fort Knocks" label.
With all momentum in his favor, he began recording his official debut album "The Greatest Story Never Told" in 2005. Since finishing the album early last year, Saigon's career has been in constant limbo. Both he and Just Blaze have dealt with set-backs, label politics, legal situations, blog ward, sample clearance issues, and about 30 different release dates for the album. Fed up with the bullshit, Saigon leaked his first single featuring Trey Songz; "Pain In My Life" in October 2006. Although it was well received and a video was made, the leak did nothing to help push up the albums release and only increased the hostility.
Almost a year later, things finally have started to look up. This summer Just Blaze announced that the sample for the first single had been cleared and a week or two later, "C'mon Baby" featuring Swizz Beatz was officially released. The song is getting consistent airplay on the East Coast and Jay-Z has already recorded vocals for a remix of the track. With that being said, Atlantic is planning on FINALLY releasing the album in late '07/early '08. Saigon is now trying to re-generate the monster buzz he had almost 2 years ago by releasing an official street album filled with unreleased material. "The Moral of the Story" will be dropping in September and will feature production from Just Blaze, Alchemist & Scram Jones.
Here's a few tracks that will be featured on "The Moral of the Story"
Saigon ft. Swizz Beatz - C'mon Baby (Prod. by Just Blaze)
Saigon ft. Tre Williams - What A Life
