Although the official numbers won't be revealed until tomorrow afternoon, the verdict is in...

Various outlets are reporting that Kanye West has sold around 900k copies while 50 Cent clocked in at about 650k. It was pretty well known and widely reported on Friday that Graduation was blowing Curtis away in stores nationwide and even though 50 put up a respectable fight, it's safe to say he officially lost the 1st week sales battle.

Regardless of the winner it was a great week for hip-hop...the media coverage and hype surrounding the album releases definitely benefited both artists and the industry as well. It was also good to see it was a non-violent, friendly competition as opposed to the way most rivalries are played out in hip-hop. Now I guess we'll have to see how it plays out and what 50 has to say about the loss. Knowing 50 he'll probably be coppin' pleas & making excuses rather than accepting that his stock price is falling and his same tired formula aint working the way it used to.

Oh and for anyone who missed it...50 released the official remix to "I Get Money" featuring Diddy & Jay-Z last night on Funk Flex's show on Hot 97. Jay revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that when they recorded it, Jay stipulated that 50 couldn't release the track until after the 1st week sales were in so it wouldn't negatively impact Kanye's sales. Haha...Gotta respect Jigga for always calculating smart business moves.
