Check it. Here's the latest project from one of my favorite young emcees Blu. Just like his last two releases with Exile (Below The Heavens) and Ta'raach "The Piece Talks", Blu's new joint is yet another single collaborative effort from start to finish. This time around, it's with up & coming L.A. producer Mainframe. The duo recorded and released the album under the pseudonym "Johnson & Jonson" and it's available starting today on iTunes & other online outlets. I just got a chance to listen, and I'm definitely digging this one right here. I was really hyped off of that "Below The Heavens" joint in '07, but was pretty disappointed with the minimalist and lackluster C.R.A.C. "Piece Talks" album that dropped a few months ago. So it's great to hear Blu returning to form by teaming up with Mainframe, who's sample heavy production style is a better fit for the left coast emcee. Now although the two most def. have chemistry, there are still a few misses on the album that are just too experimental and out there for my taste. I'll definitely need to give this one a few more listens before I make up my mind. Regardless though, it's worth the download and be sure to cop this shit if you like what you hear.
