R.I. Stand The Fuck Up!!!
As I mentioned yesterday and in a few older posts, there's a new artist making some serious waves in the game at the moment who happens to be from my hometown of Providence, Rhode Island. The rapper known as Theo is bringing a breath of fresh air and a down to earth, honest approach to his music which has been instantly embraced by fans across the world in just a short time. After starting off his career as DJ S-Class and establishing himself as one of the east coast's elite DJ's, just last year Theo began to branch out and begin making his own music. After releasing his debut mixtape "'85 Til Infinity" he immediatly made an impact on many listeners. Ever since, dude has been on his grind which has paid off enormously, especially thanks to the internet blog scene, which has helped build his buzz and get his music heard across the country. As result, Theo has been a staple on sites like NahRight, 2DopeBoyz, RealTalkNY, WeDoItRite, and especially OkayPlayer.
After the overwhelmingly positive feedback from the single "Say It Right" which included a comment from Lupe Fiasco stating that "he thought he was listening to himself for a second", OkayPlayer gave Theo the big co-sign, offering to sponsor the release of his latest project "The Birth" which dropped yesterday on 8-8-08. The tape features all original production and a guest appearance from Skyzoo, and James WATTS. Luckily, I've known Theo for a few years now through our mutual friend Eli (what up kid!?) and it's great to see someone from RI making both good music & a serious impact on the game.
