Dr. Dre's latest protege and California native Bishop Lamont has just leaked his latest DJ Whoo Kid assisted project "The Confessional"...however it wasn't without controversy. Apparently, DJ Strong, a one-time associate of Lamont's, got his hands on an early, unfinished copy of the tape and despite being told not to, pulled a bitch move and sold the masters of the tape with his tags/drops all over it to a bunch of mixtape outlets for a few hundred bucks a pop before the tape's scheduled release today. Lamont released an official statement airing out DJ Strong, and also posted some video footage of himself + DJ Warrior approaching Strong at his house.
Since signing with Dre's Aftermath label in 2005, Bishop's profile & stock has continued rise after each release. Most recently, he's released the mixtapes "Nigger Noize" & "The Pope Mobile" as well as the critically acclaimed "Caltroit" which was a collaborative effort with Detroit producer/emcee Black Milk. "The Confessional" will be Lamont's final street album as he is ready to begin focusing on finishing his debut album "The Reformation" and has also confirmed that he has been recording various tracks for Dre's long rumored final album "Detox".
But aside from all the drama, "The Confessional" was finally released this afternoon in full with no tags. The tape features some of the game's finest emcees (pause) including: Warren G, Busta Rhymes, Stat Quo, Xzibit, Ras Kass, Glasses Malone, + Denaun Porter of D-12. The tape also features production from: Focus, Bink!, DJ Khalil, Nottz, Scott Storch, Denaun Porter, + Danja. You can check out the full tape + the footage of Bishop confronting DJ Strong below...
