Yoooo let's jump off today's updates with some new shit from a long lost emcee...one half of the 90's group Heltah Skeltah...Rock aka Da Rockness Monstah. Last time we heard from dude, he was facing some serious murder charges after catching a body in NY last year. Luckily for us (and probably not so much for society) dude is out on bail and is preparing to release "Shell Shock", his first disc of all-new material in almost 10 years! After rising to success in the 90's alongside Ruck (aka Sean Price) as a member of Heltah Skeltah and the legendary Boot Camp Clik, the duo dropped two successful albums "Nocturnal" and "Magnum Force" but disbanded soon after due to issues with their label, Duck Down Records. However, in the early 2000's his partner Ruck reemerged with a gritty new style and dropped the underground classic "Monkey Barz" under his given name Seannn P(rice). Since then, Duck Down Records has had a rebirth as Buckshot, Tek & Steele of Smif-N-Wessun, Sean Price, and now Rock have all began recording new material for the independent label. There is even some rumors floating around about a potential Heltah Skeltah reunion album sometime late this year or next, however nothing has been confirmed.
But for those of y'all itching for some new shit from Rock & Ruck, you're in luck as they have recorded a track on "Shell Shock" titled Fuck Dat Rapper. The project also includes guest appearances from other BCC members Buckshot & Steele as well as Rustee Juxx among others. The project is scheduled to drop in stores tomorrow (May 20th) and can be ordered over on Duck Down's official site. But of course y'all can preview the full album below to hear what Rock has in store in his triumphant return. As always, if y'all are feeling this joint, be sure to go out tomorrow and cop to support independent hip-hop!!!!!
