As I'm sure all of you know, one of the greatest rappers of all-time died on March 9th, 1997. Christopher Wallace is remembered as one of the most charismatic, versatile, and entertaining emcees to ever grace the mic. Since his untimely death on that fateful day in 1997, the entire hip-hop community has continued to carry on his legacy. Although his career only spanned a few years, Biggie Smalls managed to catapult himself into the forefront of the east coast hip-hop scene, and was declared The King Of New York. Using his remarkable slow flow, he effortlessly composed thug songs, club songs, and even love songs without sounding corny or forced and as far as I'm concerned, that kind of versatility is still unmatched to this day. Of course I could write paragraphs about BIG and his legacy, but in the 11 years since his death, we've all seen and heard more than enough tributes, dedications, eulogies, and stories to last a lifetime. At this point, everything that needs to be said has been, and the best thing we could do as fans of Biggie & hip-hop, is to continue to preserve his legacy for as long as we possibly can. There's nothing else we can say or do that is better than just playing the man's music.

I'm sure most of y'all are probably expecting me to drop some Biggie albums as a tribute. But honestly...if you call yourself a hip-hop fan and don't own "Ready To Die" & "Life After Death" you should be ashamed of your damn self and log the fuck off the site right now...real talk. Matter of fact, go out and buy those joints right now. Not tomorrow, not next week...right now!!! But don't get it twisted...I'm not just gonna leave y'all empty handed. I got some nice mixtapes & compilations for y'all to peep including: DJ Vlad & Dirty Harry's award winning tape "Rap Phenomenon", plus a rare live recording of an early Biggie concert in London. Also got my personal favorite; "Blue Eyes Meets Bed-Stuy" which features BIG's vocals mixed over original Frank Sinatra sampled instrumentals and to cap it all off, we got Biggie's original demo tape which he recorded between '92 and '93 after being featured in The Source's "Unsigned Hype" column. Not long after, he established a relationship with Hot 97's DJ Mister Cee and caught the ear of a young A&R at Uptown Records by the name of Sean Combs who scheduled a meeting with the young emcee. And the rest as they say...is history.
