It's just been announced that KRS-One, Q-Tip, & Common will be teaming up with producers DJ Premier, Just Blaze, + Cool & Dre to remake some of the most influential tracks of their careers for the Smirnoff Signature Mix Series promotion. Common has teamed up with Just Blaze to recreate "The Light", KRS-One joined DJ Premier to remake Criminal Minded, and Q-Tip has collaborated with Cool & Dre for a remix of "Midnight". The campaign promoting the series will be jumping off this week and feature radio, video and digital promotions and over at the official website, you'll be able to check out the full songs, music videos, and behind the scenes footage of the making of each track.

Say what you will about fucking with classics, but from what I've heard on the KRS/Premo track so far...this could be a pretty dope project by all parties involved. Common/Just Blaze's "The Light" will be released on 2/26 and Q-Tip/Cool&Dre's "Midnight" will drop on 3/4....so stay tuned for more audio.
