In today's edition of Digital Crate Diggin', we're gonna take it to ATL with another gem of a mixtape from DJ Jamad + Floyd Da Locsmif called "Outskirts: The Unofficial Lost Outkast Remixes". The double disc compilation dropped back in '04 and features over 50 blends and remixes of Outkast's best tracks. If y'all are familiar with DJ Jamad and his famous Afromentals series, you already know what to expect...with his killer original blends that start off the tape with a bang. Jamad carries the torch for the 30+ tracks on disc one by flawlessly blending Dre + Big Boi over classic instrumentals from The Roots, Gangstarr, Kanye, EPMD, Jay-Z and more. From there, the largely unknown Floyd Da Locsmif takes over disc two and best believe...makes his presence known by the time it's over. However, unlike the previous disc's blends with familiar beats, Floyd is an incredible producer with a relaxed, jazz influenced sound and matches up his original instrumentals over classic Outkast vocals throughout the second disc. The result is nothing short of amazing and is a MUST HEAR for any Outkast fan period. He absolutely murders Jazze Belle, Elevators, Skew It On The Bar-B, Da Art Of Stor...you know what fuck it...I just realized he murders every track...no need to point just a few out.
